All children have a right to health!

Article 24 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child recognizes a child’s right to optimal health. Our aim as GTP is to help realize that statement world-wide.

Who we are

We are a network of paediatricians and other specialists, health scientists and nurses working to improve the quality of preventive and curative paediatric care in resource-limited countries.

The Society for Tropical Paediatrics and International Child Health (GTP) e.V. was founded in 1983 as a working group of the German Society for Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine and has been a registered non-profit association since 2003. We changed the original name – Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Tropenpädiatrie (ATP) – in 2015 to better reflect the focus of our professional society – child health issues beyond the field of tropical medicine.

There is much to do:

Partners are i.e. Deutsche Gesellschaft für Tropenmedizin und Internationale Gesundheit (DTG), die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kinder- und Jugendmedizin (DGKJ) and the Forum für Internationale Gesundheit (Foring). We are mombers of the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH) and serve as contact and competence partners for other societies and sending organisations in Germany and internationally.
