Paediatric ETAT+ Training
The course aims to improve global child health by training healthcare professionals and teaching strategies for the triage and treatment of sick children in resource-limited settings. It introduces a well-structured, high-quality approach to pediatric emergency care that can significantly reduce child mortality in hospitals.
ETAT+ builds on the core elements of the ETAT course, expanding further to cover additional aspects of pediatric care. This includes more in-depth training on managing pediatric conditions, as well as additional skills and knowledge essential for continuous care and stabilization.
Read MoreThe ETAT working group within GTP was founded by three graduates of the TropPaed intensive course. After experiencing the clinical importance of ETAT during various overseas missions, they trained as tutors and began leading courses abroad.
The first ETAT+ course was successfully conducted in September 2018 in Witten/Herdecke and received a positive response. Since then, the course has been offered regularly.

ETAT+ Instructor Course
The ETAT+ Instructor Course is designed to equip former ETAT+ participants with instructor potential with a deeper understanding of adult education and to enhance their skills in simulation-based teaching. The course is based on teaching methods from the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) and course content from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) in the UK. Preparation involves studying the “Pocket Guide to Teaching for Clinical Instructors” along with other course materials.
Read MoreThe course features practical, small-group exercises that allow participants to practice using equipment, deliver mini-lectures, conduct mini-simulations, run skill stations, and lead small groups, all while receiving personalized feedback. It also offers peer support and mentoring. A new addition is the “Marketplace,” where participants can revisit and refine previous exercises. The course concludes with a panel discussion on how to implement training effectively in resource-limited settings and diverse cultural contexts, aiming to improve the global delivery of ETAT+ and other simulation-based education.
