ETAT+ Instructor Course

The ETAT+ Instructor Course is designed to equip former ETAT+ participants with instructor potential with a deeper understanding of adult education and to enhance their skills in simulation-based teaching. The course is based on teaching methods from the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) and course content from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) in the UK. Preparation involves studying the “Pocket Guide to Teaching for Clinical Instructors” along with other course materials.

Course Content

Participants will receive preparation materials and are expected to review selected topics beforehand. The course emphasizes interactive training sessions and role-playing exercises, each introduced by a brief lecture:

  • Triage of sick children into three categories:
    • Children with acute conditions (“emergency signs”)
    • Children with urgent conditions (“priority signs”)
    • Children with non-urgent symptoms

  • Assessment and emergency treatment of airway and breathing issues
  • Bag-mask ventilation techniques
  • Evaluation of cardiac status and level of consciousness
  • Effective management of shock, coma, and seizures in children
  • Intraosseous access procedures
  • Classification and treatment of severe dehydration in children with diarrheal disease
  • Management of acute severe malnutrition
  • Care for sick newborns and premature infants
  • Classification and treatment of burns and accidental injuries in children
  • Planning and implementation of the ETAT approach within one’s own work environment

The course integrates theory with practical skills to equip participants for real-world scenarios.
