Formation of a German Advocacy Group for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs)

We warmly invite those interested in NTDs (Neglected Tropical Diseases) to join! In collaboration with the German Society for Tropical Medicine and International Health (DTG) and international youth initiatives from Japan and Canada, we plan to form a group in Germany to strengthen advocacy for NTDs. GTP will represent pediatric aspects. Our collaboration goals include publishing papers and providing training opportunities at national and EU levels.
More information about this initiative will be available also during CTM 2024.

The next meeting is on 25 June at 17:00 online, coordinated by Mirna Abd El Aziz from the DTG. To register for the meeting, please email Mirna at mirna_aziz@web.de.

As background information on this topic, we would like to inform you that, on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and under the leadership of the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNITM), 31 NTD experts have assessed the contribution that German institutions can make towards the goal of combating NTDs. The analysis was conducted in collaboration with the German Network against Neglected Tropical Diseases (DNTDs), the German Society for Tropical Medicine, Travel Medicine and Global Health (DTG), and the German Society for Parasitology (DGP).
The study titled "Assessment of the Contribution of German Institutions to Research on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs)" will be presented during a panel discussion on "Germany's Engagement in Global Health Research," under the patronage of Ruppert Stüwe, on Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 17:30 to 19:00 at the German Parlament.

GTP is part of the "One Health" specialist group

Thanks to the support of Young GTP, GTP has become part of the newly formed "One Health" group, composed of various specialist societies. This group is expected to be led by Prof. August Stich from Würzburg. Various interdisciplinary activities on the topic of One Health are planned. The kickoff will be an online meeting titled "One Health in Pediatrics," part of the Paed-ID series hosted by DGPI, on July 3 at 8:00 PM, featuring an interactive exchange at the end of the event. Prof. August Stich will participate as an expert.
All interested parties are warmly invited!
Registration is required and can be completed via the following link.
